Wednesday nights 6 - 7:30 PM Sept. - April What is AWANA? Awana is an international Bible-centered youth organization that is active in over 12,000 churches around the world. Children are encouraged to memorize Scripture, learn how to use their Bibles, and participate in fun crafts and games. Each Awana night brings fun themes and activities that center around building a lifelong relationship with Jesus. Our Awana ministry night is divided into four general rotations. Lesson/Group time: A Bible lesson will be given during this rotation. Handbook time: Trained leaders will work with small groups of clubbers assisting them reciting Bible verses, completing book sections, and other learning activities. Clubbers earn Awana points and awards for passing sections by reciting Bible verses and completing activities in their handbooks. Clubbers use their Awana points to purchase toys or prizes from the Awana Store. Time With Purpose (TWP): This is a rotation of Bible games, crafts, music, prayer, and more. We also focus on assisting each clubber on how to open and use their Bibles. Our goal is to ensure that each clubber is comfortable using their Bibles and finding scripture. Game Time: Clubbers enjoy interactive games created around Awana themes and curriculum. Awana is designed to walk alongside you and your child in their walk with Jesus. We encourage parents to work with and prepare clubbers for each night of club. Each clubber is provided a section calendar that accompanies their handbook and outlines the dates each section/verse is due to be recited. Toddlers are introduced to basic biblical concepts that we are a unique creation of God and that God loves us very much. Puggles learn simple lessons through teaching cards, activities, music and more. Sparks The elementary ministry for children in 1st through 3rd grades. The children work with Sparky by moving together through their handbooks and memorizing scripture. Sparks also learn about exciting people from the Bible and participate in group lessons and activities. Cubbies The Pre-K/Kindergarten ministry is for children in PK4 & K5. Child must be PreK 4 to begin Cubbies. Pre-schoolers are taught basic truths about God, Jesus, sin and salvation. Truth & Training The upper elementary ministry for 4th and 5th grades. This energetic group of kids learn more about God, the Bible, Jesus and life application of Scripture. A: Twin Oaks has provided multiple channels for you to give. We want to make your giving experience as easy and convenient as possible. You have the choice to give by simply visiting our website www.tobcchurch.com under the "Giving" title on the homepage , or downloading the giving app (Generosity by Lifeway). Upon your first attempt to give, you will be asked to provide your name, billing address, and payment information. After the first time this information will auto save within the embed, making all future donations quick and easy. How can I locate the church giving page on the website? A: When on the TOBC home page you will find a “Giving” tab in the heading bar. Click on the heading and follow the instructions. What giving options do I have? A: You are able to give by eCheck online and on the app or by check or cash during the service. Can I make a one time gift? A: On the giving page, it will ask how often you would like to donate, simply choose “One-time” as your frequency and proceed with your gift. Can I setup a recurring gift? A: On the giving page, it will ask how often you would like to give. Simply search the name of our church and select it to give. You will have a profile with your stored information and record of gifts. What if I can’t remember my username or password for the app? A: Select the prompt that says “Forgot password?”, then enter your e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail from iDonate with a verification code. Go back into the app and enter the verification. Step-by-Step Instructions Online Cash Giving Instructions: Visit our church’s website at tobcchurch.com/giving . Fill out the form by simply putting in the amount you want to give, choosing frequency, and designation. Click the “Give Now” button. First time visitors to the giving tool will need to fill out a short form that includes entering their name and address. The next time you use the online giving tool your information will be saved in the form using your browser’s cookies. Put in your checking account information and click “Give”. We are a Southern Baptist church located in Ferrum, VA. Welcome We are so excited that you have taken time to visit us. Perhaps you're new to Twin Oaks and wondering what we're like. The best way we can describe our church is to say that Twin Oaks is a unique place where it doesn't matter if you’re six or sixty, you’re right at home. Twin Oaks first began in the early 90's when a small group of believers felt led to meet together for prayer. As they continued to pray for God's guidance, it soon became evident that the Lord was leading them to establish a new church. In 1992, this new church was given the name "Twin Oaks Baptist Church" and became a part of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Conservatives of VA. Since that time, buildings have been built, many more members have been added, numerous new ministries have been developed and Twin Oaks has become a flourishing church. Our greeters and ushers will be happy to assist you in locating our children's ministry areas. Church Staff Lead Pastor Terry Covey Terry has served as the Senior Pastor of Twin Oaks since 2003. Prior to his coming to Twin Oaks, he served eleven years as an associate pastor in Ohio, where the primary focus of his ministry involved ministering to young families. Terry and his wife, Tammy, are both natives of Pulaski County, Va. They have two adult daughters who, along with their husbands, actively serve in their local churches. They also have four grandchildren whom they are very proud of. Terry's life verse is Hebrews 11:6: 'But without faith, it is impossible to please Him; for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.' He has chosen this verse because it reminds him that his faith in Christ is the core of his spiritual walk, and that he must continue to seek God daily in order to experience His greatest blessings. Office Manager Jan Barbour Jan is an accomplished executive professional who joined our team as the office manager in May 2023. With a strong background in Hospitality Management, Human Resources, and Employment Recruitment, Jan brings a level of experience and expertise to her role. After marrying Clay Barbour in December 2022, Jan made the decision to relocate from Mount Airy, NC to Bassett Va. Clay has been an esteemed member of Twin Oaks for quite some time, adding to the couple's connection with the community. Jan's deep faith and gratitude are reflected in her love for gospel music. Her favorite song, "What A Day That Will Be," resonates deeply with her and expresses her strong beliefs "What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see and I look upon His face; the one who saved me by His grace. Every week, we explore the Bible in an engaging and relatable way, helping students discover who God is and how His Word applies to their everyday lives. Our goal is to equip them with a faith that will guide them through the challenges and decisions of the teen years and beyond. Of course, we also believe in having fun! Whether it is through games, group activities, or just hanging out with friends, our ministry provides a safe, welcoming space where students can be themselves and grow in community. At Twin Oaks, we want our junior high students to develop a lasting faith, form meaningful friendships, and be prepared for the exciting journey ahead. Sr. High “Regeneration Teens / RGTeens” (Grades 9-12) Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30 PM September - April High school is a pivotal time in life, filled with important decisions and exciting opportunities. Our Senior High Ministry is here to guide students as they navigate these years, helping them build a strong faith foundation that will last a lifetime. Each week, we dive deep into the Bible, exploring its truths and how they apply to everyday life. These studies not only help our students grow spiritually but also equip them to face the challenges and opportunities that come after high school—whether that's college, a career, or other paths. But it's not just about studying. We believe in creating a space where students can have fun and connect with friends. Whether it's through group discussions, social events, or simply hanging out, we foster an environment where lasting friendships are built. At Twin Oaks, we want our students to grow closer to Christ, build meaningful relationships, and be ready to step into the next phase of life with confidence and faith.
